Water, water everywhere...and not a drop to drink

As any one of my friends or family can attest, one of my greatest pleasures in life is drinking an ice-cold Diet Pepsi. Beverages in general were a major part of my life until my diagnosis.

That changed on December 24th, 2021 when my dialysis started and I embarked on a life that was contingent on a new fluid restriction. I'm limited to consuming 1.5 Liters of fluid a day. That sounds like a lot. But it isn't.

Why do they restrict your fluid inake? There are a number of problems. And that number is 1. As in #1. 💦

Why URINE trouble?

It has to do with kidney function...

Basically, the kidney is a big deal because it does some important shit...

  • It filters toxins from your blood 🩸

  • It balances bodily fluids 💦

  • Makes vitamin D

  • Control s the production of red blood cellsRemoves drugs; and,Balances hormones that regulate blood pressure

So when your kidneys fail and no longer work several things happen...the worst of which are toxins, drugs and substances building up in your body. Your kidneys aren't filtering your blood/fluid so no urine is being manufactured. So no lemonade is being squeezed at the stand.

The real tragedy here is the lack of icy Diet Pepsi in my life as a result.

Nurses and nutritionists will tell you there are coping methods. Oral sprays, sour candy... chewing ice.

To this I say: horseshit.

It just plain sucks and you are thirsty af -all. the. damn. time.

All you can do is savour the measly mls you are given and avoid the sweet and salty goodness that surrounds you.

Also invest in good quality lubricants for all corners of the Earth, if you get my meaning.

That's it that's all for now.
